The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced that the ongoing $15 million renovation of Terminal 2 at the Accra International Airport is officially scheduled for completion by December 2026.
The massive upgrade project aims to completely modernize the terminal, enhancing the passenger experience while boosting regional tourism.
GACL Confirms Project Is on Track
The Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, confirmed that the contractor has accelerated work to meet the end-of-year deadline without disrupting current flight schedules.
She said the project is progressing as planned and expressed confidence that the renovated terminal will be ready for use by the end of the year, adding that the President is expected to commission it once complete.

The transformation is part of GACL’s broader strategy to position Accra as the premier aviation hub in West Africa. Terminal 2, which primarily handles domestic and select regional flights, has seen a steady rise in passenger traffic in recent years, making the structural overhaul essential.
